Scientific Attache’ Activities and Role
Scientific Attache’ aims to consolidate and foster scientific and technological cooperation between Italy and India and in particular to promote collaboration between the Italian and Indian Universities, Research Institutions, scientific associations and enterprises which operate in technologically advanced sectors. The scope of his activity is also to disseminate in India information on the Italian excellence in science and technology and to pursue the objective of economic outcome and technological innovation of the Italian industrial sector. The Scientific Attache’ interacts with Indian Ministeries, Universities, Research Organisations, enterprises and institutions which have a research component or which are dedicated to scientific activities and technology.
Following are the principal tasks and activities of the Scientific Attache’:
- Assist, develop and monitor bilateral scientific and technological cooperation during the negotiation phase and during the implementation of the Exective Programmes of Scientific and Technological Cooperation;
- Promotion in India of the Italian scientific and technology system and of the high tech industry;
- Realization of the promotional events and initiatives in the scientific and technological field;
- Dissemination in Italy of the information on the scientific system and on the strategic scientific policy realized in India;
- Dissemination in India of the information concerning the Italian scientific system, with reference to the Universities, Research Institutes, Laboratories and other Research dedicated organizations and their programmes and projects;
- Promotion of the exchange visits between Italian and Indian researchers, with the objective to boost bilateral and multilateral cooperation;
- Promotion of the participation of Italian researchers together with Indian researchers in the 7th Framework Programme of the European Union.
In performing his mandate, the Scientific Attache’ collaborates with the Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy, with the Italian Trade Commission, with the Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and with the Italian Culture Institute.
